The Central Portion of MYC

The central portion of MYC. Despite being subject to comparatively little study, the central portion of MYC carries three highly-conserved MYC boxes, suggestive of an important function throughout evolution. To understand how this segment contributes to MYC activity, we have performed parallel two hybrid and proteomic screening to identify factors that specifically interact with this region of MYC. This study identified WDR5 as a MbIIIb-binding MYC cofactor, and HCF-1 as a MbIV-binding co-factor. We are currently validating and interrogating other MYC-interaction partners that were identified through this approach. Stay tuned.
